Since its creation in 1995, GNFA (Groupement National pour la Formation Automobile) has been one of the leading players in the field of automotive service skills.
Specializing in more than five major areas of expertise, GNFA's ambition is not only to offer comprehensive services for companies, but also to train future automotive experts.
Today we take a look at GNFA's initial needs, and how the Smotly team came up with solutions to meet them.
GNFA expressed two key needs in the redesign of their website.
Modernization:
Launched in the 90s, the GNFA website was becoming somewhat dated, so one of the needs was to give it a more modern image.
Creating the training catalog:
GNFA offers a variety of specific training courses. However, the training catalog contained very little information.
The GNFA also expressed five wishes for the redesign of its website:
Integration of a search bar
Filters on specific themes or modalities
Easier contact and booking of training courses
Creation of dedicated forms
Lead generation
The GNFA website was redesigned to create a complete training catalog, while bringing a more modern image to a unique, responsive website.
The creation of an aggregator
Since the main challenge of the project was to bring together both the data present in the ERP (sales management software) and the missing data that had to be added manually, our team of developers chose to create a training aggregator.
The aggregator is divided into two distinct parts: the front office was developed on the JavaScript FrameWork "Vue.js". The back end, i.e. the non-visible part of development, is based on the PHP-based web framework "Lumen".
We also created an automatic flow of training data updates between the aggregator and the showcase site.
In this way, an automated interface was created for the GNFA website. The ERP is linked directly to the aggregator, which in turn is linked to the showcase site.
The showcase site
The showcase site is a WordPress site laid out with Elementor.
Elementor is accessible to a wide range of people, not just experienced developers, and enables high-performance page load times, an essential element for good SEO.
A "training" page template has also been introduced to facilitate content management.
The website design stage involved GNFA teams in the creative process, via a kick-off meeting and workshops. GNFA teams were involved from the analysis of the project's scope, to the design of screen prototypes, as well as mock-ups of all the future site's pages.
Then comes the realization stage. Smotly's teams will check and test the site before delivering it to the GNFA.
As the site was initially developed on one of Smotly's servers, the GNFA was able to consult it at any time. This has enabled them in turn to test and validate the design elements and functionalities that will be put online.
The new version of the GNFA website(gnfa-auto.fr) went online on October 26, 2021.
Our teams have set up Google "DataStudio", an advanced website analysis tool, which enables GNFA to see in real time the effects of the website redesign in terms of the leads it generates and training purchases.
