Adisseo: A modern, high-performance international corporate website

Adisseo: digital overhaul for a world leader in animal nutrition

Adisseo, a world leader in animal feed additives founded in 1939, had an aging corporate website that no longer reflected its innovative positioning. Despite the company's digital presence, the site's navigation was complex. Technical performance showed considerable room for improvement, and daily content management was laborious for staff. Faced with this situation, Adisseo asked us to completely rethink its site, to present a unified, high-performance corporate showcase in line with its international ambitions.

Improve the performance, security and conversion of an international corporate site

Even before the project began, the challenges were clearly identified, reflecting the Group's ambitions. All technical and functional aspects were discussed to define a clear, precise and detailed roadmap. 

Behind the main objective of taking Adisseo's development to new horizons, six main strategic sub-objectives have been defined

Improving navigation and facilitating information searches for an optimized user experience, with particular emphasis on clarifying product and service offerings

Strengthen security and RGPD compliance to protect data and ensure full compliance with international regulations.

Optimize technical performance and minimize loading times to guarantee a seamless experience worldwide, including on the Chinese market with its specific constraints.

Create an intuitive administration interface enabling Adisseo teams to manage content autonomously, with fine-grained management of access rights according to user profiles.

Optimize functionalities via advanced integrations (ActiveCampaign, Hotjar, Google Analytics, Algolia) for better automation and precise performance monitoring

Build a responsive, mobile-friendly and SEO-ready site with a modern technical architecture that guarantees scalability and durability

Design system and page architecture: building a scalable site with Strapi

To make this redesign a success, it was essential to completely rethink the user path to make the site readable and navigation fluid for all. The design phase was central: from the definition of personas and wireframes to the confirmation of the graphic charter and the creation of mock-ups and the design system. 

After identifying the value proposition of each persona, we co-constructed the site's new tree structure. The zoning of each page was then established by dissociating page typology.

  • Corporate pages, individually designed with a unique layout.
  • Template pages, designed with a reusable structure featuring fixed and dynamic zones. All these zones were used to identify the 35 components required for the project. 

We then colorized the components to create the page mock-ups and design system for the project.

In parallel with this layout phase, Adisseo's teams worked on the content, which was uploaded in real time to Figma for immediate insertion and a more-than-real projection!

From scoping to deployment: the complete lifecycle of a complex digital redesign

At the start of this project, we defined the main milestones for the design, development, acceptance and online phases. A hybrid methodology was then applied, with constant back-and-forth between Adisseo and Smotly to maintain maximum responsiveness and agility.

Launch and scoping phase: in-depth needs analysis, competitive benchmarking, precise definition of functional and technical scope, definition of schedule

Design phase: co-creation workshops for personas, wireframes, creation and validation of moodboard, layout of home page and complete pages, presentation of design system.

03.

Development phase: implementation of the technical architecture, development of components and templates, integration of advanced functionalities.

04.

Deployment phase: migration of content, training of Adisseo teams in the use of the Strapi back office and Weglot translation solution, gradual go-live.

After the launch on May 26, the collaboration continues with a shared launch report, debriefing and monthly updates to monitor data and possible optimizations/improvements.

Performance, security, internationalization: the benefits of Strapi architecture

Au-delà des enjeux UX/UI, le choix de la solution technique et l’architecture à mettre en place était indispensable pour répondre aux objectifs d’Adisseo. Le CMS headless Strapi s’est rapidement imposé comme la solution adaptée offrant de nombreux avantages stratégiques et techniques :  

  • International and multilingual management. The system manages 7 regions and 3 languages (EN, FR, CH) via Weglot, enabling each user to choose their language/region and Adisseo to customize content according to market. Product and brand names adapt automatically by region, and a specific architecture ensures optimal accessibility and performance in China. The number of languages available may evolve to include more translations as Adisseo's ambitions grow.
  • Autonomie totale des équipes. Le back-office Strapi, entièrement personnalisé, offre une gestion granulaire des droits et des workflows (prévisualisation, brouillon, publication/déploiement). Résultat : 90 % des mises à jour de contenu sont réalisées en autonomie par les équipes métiers, avec une formation et une documentation dédiées pour garantir une prise en main rapide.
  • Outstanding performance and scalability. The decoupled architecture (Next.js + Strapi) optimizes each layer to guarantee speed and stability, with hosting on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront) for 99.9% availability. Even if the CMS is temporarily unavailable, the site remains accessible thanks to static file generation. The design is 100% responsive for an optimal experience on all media.
  • Enhanced security & compliance. Renowned for its security, Strapi enables fine-tuned management of roles and permissions. Double authentication (2FA) is enabled for all administrator access. RGPD compliance is rigorously respected thanks to CookieYes (V2 mode) ensuring clear and compliant management of personal data.

After a rigorous selection process, we unanimously chose Smotly as our development partner for https://www.adisseo.com/. Our new site is now online, thanks to their solid technical expertise and their constant drive to find solutions without ever losing sight of the user experience (UX design).
