Since December 2022, Legendary Plays has been revolutionizing the online rugby experience by positioning itself as the official NFT videos platform for the TOP 14, PRO D2 and URC. Through a redesigned website, rugby fans can now collect and relive their favorite match moments without limit thanks to Plays. These official videos, available in limited editions, transform the passion for rugby into an interactive experience, where play, purchase, collection, gifts, exchange and encounters come together harmoniously.
In a nutshell, Internet users receive a play, represented by a key in their club's colors, and can access three types of NFT packs. Part of the profits generated by the platform are also donated to non-profit organizations. If you'd like to find out more about the concept, take a look at their website.

The LegendaryPlays website is a new meeting point, accessible to everyone, anywhere, anytime. To set up this new platform, the entire architecture of the existing site had to be redesigned to meet functional and graphic requirements. Thanks to our Shopify technical expertise, we were able to advise Legendary Plays to identify the best solutions.
So the recommendation was for a headless structure offering complete flexibility with a connection to CMS:

Migration of a custom-developed site to Shopify
The creation of a gamified journey with the collection of plays, the creation of a gallery of memories, albums to complete to earn rewards, challenges in the fans' championship and exceptional benefits.
Design of a website with a modern, optimized design, reflecting the brand's image and including attractive animations.
Setting up a Storybook for efficient, centralized management of site components and use cases
Thanks to Shopify, our team was able to respond with agility and precision to the requirements of the LegendaryPlays project. By combining the power of Shopify with our Smotly expertise, the LegendaryPlays challenge was met, in particular with :
A needs definition workshop: including briefing, company presentation, analysis of existing situation and definition of technical and functional scope.
Integration in line with the validated mock-ups, respecting the guidelines provided by LegendaryPlays and based on the design system.
A Pull Request process on LegendaryPlays' GitHub with methodical task management and code reviews to guarantee development quality.
Regular meetings: held to identify areas for improvement and respond to new requests, ensuring the ongoing evolution of the project and a site that is always at the cutting edge of modernity and functional needs.
To comprehensively meet Legendary Plays' objectives, a fully customized functional and technical approach was adopted. After framing the requirements, we quickly identified the ideal combination for complete coverage of expectations and a fully customized e-commerce site.
For optimum performance, we chose Next.js, an open source JavaScript framework based on React. Next.js offers a wide range of features (enhanced performance, SEO optimization, advanced routing management, seamless integration with React, increased scalability...) making it an attractive choice for the development of modern, high-performance e-commerce sites. What's more, it facilitates integration with external APIs for retrieving and displaying data from different sources, ensuring a seamless connection with the three systems required for the project: external web3, Strapi and Shopify.
At the same time, two CMS were selected for the project: Shopify and Strapi. The combination of these two CMSs made it possible to meet both functional and business requirements, in terms of both e-commerce and editorial aspects. Being both headless, these solutions offered LegendaryPlays maximum flexibility in the design and development of their innovative platform.
