Founded in 1967 by Paul DUBRULE and Gérard PÉLISSON, the Accor group is a French hotel group born of mergers and takeovers of various hotel brands.
With over 3,500 hotels in more than 92 countries, it is ranked number one in Europe and number six worldwide.
Accor owns brands such asIbis, Mercure, Sofitel, Novotel and Pullman, which enable the group to operate in different market segments, meeting the needs of the general public in both budget and luxury hotels.
Until 2018, the catering team at Accor Group headquarters was responsible for creating the paper catalog, which contained all the recipes made available to hotels to create their menus. Every year, two catalogs were designed and produced on paper, depending on the season: autumn/winter and spring/summer.
This system presented a number of difficulties, as well as disadvantages: once the catalog had been distributed, no further modifications were possible.
If any retrievals, additions or changes had to be made, we had to start from scratch, resulting in new prints and the distribution of redesigned catalogs.
In 2018, the Accor group is expressing two new needs:
An online catalog of recipes.
Automate the printing process for each restaurant's menu.
The solution we came up with and implemented was the complete digitization of the catalog. We developed a platform to enable hotels to build their own online map.
We created a web platform where the group's hotels can connect and consult the complete catalog.
A search function is also integrated into the catalog, enabling recipes to be filtered according to ingredients, level of difficulty, etc.
The platform is connected to the printer's site, enabling print orders to be generated andcards to be printed automatically.
The platform offers a wide range of functions:
Price management by recipe/by concept.
Technical data sheets for each recipe and the products required to produce it.
Free recipes (i.e., not included in the catalog) can also be entered by hotels.
Our development team chose different technologies: the development of a business-specific solution with Angular for the front-office and Node.js and Mongo for the back-end.
The architecture was designed to anticipate load increases. The front end is decoupled from the back end, following a microservices logic. These two different hostings make it possible to absorb and support high site traffic.
The project was approached in stages, and our team held lengthy discussions with those of the Accor group in order to best meet their expectations. From these consultations was born the brand "Les recettes qui font recette".
The first step was to develop avisual identity for the platform. Corresponding mock-ups were then produced in collaboration with the company, with a view to obtaining specific development of the digital platform.
Then, in a second phase, the functionalities desired by the Accor group were considered.
The solution is now available for all Novotel and Ibis Rouge brand hotels.
Now that user satisfaction has been achieved, Accor is planning to extend this solution to the group's other brands.
